I got a robo call this morning, and it really started me thinking …
Sorry
I’ll back up. The call came in fairly early morning. Since it was a New Jersy number and I know no one in “Joisey” I let it go to message, planning to block the number when I got a minute.
A minute or two later I received a chime that told me that the NJ number had left me a message.
I thought: “Well that’s interesting. I wonder who that is?”
I took a break and accessed my voicemail:
There was a breathless robo saleman saying that if I call now, (some pills’ name that I didn’t recognize) will be available to “all you men”, for only $2 a pill.
I deleted the message.
Then I thought about the import of that robo call:
new pest among the cell phones. What a pain!
Then I thought: “Well, if that’s what I think it is…That sounds like a pretty good price…”
Anyway, an anonymous phone rings asks for money. And if it were for anything else we’d laugh and hang up. But for that one thing…they figure some randomly called guy is going to be so worried about his manhood that he will hand over his credit card number to send $100 (minimum order) to a phone number that was repeated 3 or 4 times, and …
Ummm
He’ll actually get his pills and suddenly he’ll become the man he’d always hoped?
Really?
That works?
This is a viable business plan?
It was around then that moving to Jersey was starting to sound pretty good to me.
